Nathan began his career in cheese in 2005 as a cheesemonger at New York City’s famed, Murray’s Cheese Shop. There he made his mark on the cheese world as an amazing salesperson, charismatic leader, and effective trainer. During his 13 year tenure, he worked his way up to VP of National Operations, where he helped grow the 2 NYC stores into a 350 shop national chain.
Now, as the Manager of Education for Institut du Fromage, Nathan focus his time and energy in to training and motivating the next generation of proactive cheesemongers. In his career, Nathan has trained and inspired over 2,500 cheesemongers across the United States to not only sell cheese, but to also make connections with their customers through telling the amazing stories of our favorite farmers and cheesemakers.
Nathan, who is a Certified Cheese Professional from the American Cheese Society, has been credited with saying, “It is our job as Cheesemongers to make sure the cheese gets to the customer’s mouths the way the cheesemaker intended it to taste.”
In his off time, Nathan enjoys sharing a fine glass of bourbon with whomever will listen to his stories, as well as reading, sculpting, cooking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
